Cairo - Egyptian parliamentarian Mohamed Al-Swedi hailed the meeting that Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi held with the National Council to Combat Terrorism, saying that the meeting discussed a number of critical issues, including the ways to confront the extremist ideas promoted by the terrorist groups.

Al-Swedi added that the Egyptian president was keen to underline the importance of the council, saying that the members of the council should draft an inclusive plan to activate its role not only on the national side but also on the international level.

He expressed his support for the president’s call for adopting a strategy to confront terrorism, stressing the importance of Al-Azhar’s role to promote moderate ideas and to renew the religious discourse and to prevent the extremist preachers from taking the opportunity inside the mosques to promote their ideas.
