Cairo - Egyptian imports to Tunisia hike 29 percent in the first half (1H) of 2017, standing at $119.2 million, up from $92.4 million in 1H 2016, the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) in Tunisia said Monday.

In a report by the Ministry of Industry, the office said that imports from Tunis declined 14.6 percent to record $21 million, down from $24.6 million in 1H 2016.

“The rise was due to an increase in the exports of certain items; including steel, foodstuff and glassware,” said Ahmed Antar, head of the ECS said in the report.

Sugar items were among the top ten Egyptian exports to Tunisia in 1H 2017, with a 24 percent increase from 2016, the report added.
