Abu Dhabi - The Zayed Giving Convoy has inaugurated its first mobile clinic in Somalia for providing diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services in various affected areas.
The clinic will contribute to finding realistic and practical solutions to treat children and the elderly patients affected by contagious diseases, and reducing their incidence. The work will be carried out under the supervision of a UAE-Somali volunteer team, in co-ordination with the Somali Ministry of Health and a joint humanitarian initiative from Zayed Giving Initiative, Dar Al Ber Society, Sharjah Charity International and Saudi-German hospitals groups, who have come together under an exceptional model of joint humanitarian action.

The opening of mobile clinics in Somalia is as per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to make the year 2017 the #Year_of_Giving and coincides with the campaign "For your sake, Somalia." It will promote the role of the UAE and its humanitarian mission in reducing the suffering of the Somali people.
The mobile clinics are part of the humanitarian mission of the Zayed Giving Convoy in Somalia and complement the work of the UAE mobile field hospital that managed to treat more than 5,000 children and elderly patients in Somalia earlier. The total beneficiaries, children and elderly patients, of the diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services provided all over the world have reached more than 5 million.

Al Shameri, who is also the Head of Emirates Doctors, highlighted that the mobile clinic will contribute to building the capacities of the Somali doctors in the areas of community and field medicine, and enable them to manage mobile clinics and field hospitals, in accordance with the strategic plan of the UAE-Somali team supervising the joint medical programmes in Somalia.
