Cairo – Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr met on Monday with the director of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) at the ministry's headquarters.

In a statement, the ministry said the two sides tackled means of boosting bilateral cooperation to establish an investment fund with an aim of supporting development plans in Egypt and encouraging youth initiatives.

The talks covered means of propelling investment and business climate to help Egypt achieve its development plans.

They also discussed preparations for the minister's participation in the meetings of the high-level consultative council affiliated to the UN Social Impact Fund. Nasr has been chosen as the first Egyptian and African woman to join the council.

The minister asserted that she will work during her membership in the council on developing small- and medium-scale projects and economically empowering women.

The UNCDF director, for his part, voiced confidence that such initiatives would contribute to enhancing the role of the private sector in development plans in Egypt, noting that the UNCDF would offer consultative services to emerging companies that will benefit from the UN Social Impact Fund.
