Cairo – During his recent visit to Egypt, Iraqi Vice President Ayad Allawi accused Qatar of adopting a divisive approach in Iraq with an aim of toppling the Iraqi regime.

The tiny Gulf country has driven a wedge between the Sunnis and Shiites in Iraq, and sought to destroy the Iraqi state, Allawi said in a press conference.

Allawi wondered why some Arab states keep silent about the Qatari malpractices, urging them to adopt a clear stand away from complements.

“Any country intending to harm others should be isolated from Arab and Muslim countries,” he noted.

Allawi said Arab nations face a great conspiracy, but they are capable of foiling such schemes, especially if Egypt, Iraq and other moderate countries coordinate their efforts.

On Monday, June 5, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt have broken diplomatic ties with Qatar and cut off air, sea and land access to the country over Doha’s support for terrorist groups.
