Cairo – Famed Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has had the internet abuzz this past week after it was confirmed that the star will feature in an episode of the popular yet controversial prank show “Ramez Underground.”

Shah Rukh Khan enjoys a great fan base in the Middle East and his popularity in the region has become the talk of the town following his appearance in the show's official promo, sending the internet into a meltdown.

Hosted by comedian Ramez Galal, the prank show airs on MBC during Ramadan. Featuring a different theme every season, it subjects celebrities to incredibly cruel pranks.

This year, the show's guests are tricked into believing that they are part of an interview show hosted by Lebanese presenter Neshan Der Haroutiounian.

In yesterday's episode, Khan surprised his Egyptian fans by showing that he knows a lot about Egypt, especially its desert. This was clear when he chitchatted with the show's crew. It seems that the star knows well about the desert of Al-Farafra in Egypt. But why that site in particular?

It turns out it was the setting where SRK shot his epic film, "Suraj Hua Maddham" (Sun Got Dimmer) in 2001, with the international actress Kajol. Yes, that desert is in Egypt, under the pyramids and in the depth of the white desert of the Al-Farafra Oasis.

The setting added great beauty to the film especially that the Farafra desert was ranked among the top 20 global tourist sites in a 2016 poll.

Back to the prank show, in the first part of the episode, SRK did not show any fear while inside the car that was taking him to prank scene. The guest arrives for the interview in an Abu Dhabi desert area and on his way back, the car driving them quickly begins to sink into quicksand and things escalate from there. A human-sized lizard appears, wandering out of the cave – which is Galal in a full body suit. You can stay tuned to watch the episode once uploaded online.

The “Ramez Underground” show has hosted so far belly-dancer and actress Fifi Abdo, actress Nadia El-Gendy, Mustafa Khater, Mahmud Karka and Mo’men Zakaria. Expect more of the same for the next 22 days of Ramadan, with confirmed guests including Wael Kfoury.

• The show airs at 9 pm on MBC Masr and at 9:30 pm daily on MBC.
