Cairo - Member of parliament Mona Mounir wants all books containing extremist ideas and incitement to violence to be burnt in front of the parliament, especially curricula taught to Al Azhar students which includes misleading fatwas.
During a general session of the parliament to discuss the last terrorist attack in Minya, the MP added, "discussions are useless without implementing any actions. Members from the Minister of Interior, the Ministry of Endowments as well as representatives of  theAl Azhar should have been present in this session."

The MP added, "We represent the people of Egypt but we are fooling ourselves. We must know that 90% of those who believe in extremist ideas in Minya are graduates of Al Azhar institutions. Terrorist attacks occur every day and no one is doing anything about it. It is astounding that despite all the terror attacks, security forces are doing nothing. Ibn Taymiyah is still being taught in Al Azhar and yet the state keeps repeating that it is fighting terrorism. The state is making a mockery of us and the people of Egypt."
